The most notable landmark here is, without a doubt, the Getty Center. Located high up in the hills, this museum overlooks all of Brentwood and more. It is a magnificent building and costs to build it vary from $1.2 billion to $1.3 billion – what’s a hundred million dollars more or less, right? Suffice to say, it cost a whole lot of money.
The Central Garden of the museum, designed by artist Robert Irwin, is breathtaking with its dizzying array of colors and interesting looking exotic plants. The colors change depending on what month you’re there. You can drive to the museum or take a short bus ride on Sepulveda Boulevard in Brentwood (the bus stop is by Ralph’s Grocery).

Unlike Westwood, Brentwood’s residential area is composed of several districts and each has its own feel. Some are in the canyons and hills. As an example, Kenter Avenue in Kenter Canyon starts as a flat road and ascends up onto the hills. Mandeville Canyon is similar in terrain. At five miles, it gains 1000 ft. in elevation.
